Independent Music Press was founded in 1992 by author/publisher Martin Roach. I.M.P. publishes high quality first-to-the-market biographies on bands such as Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Bernard Sumner, MC5, Slash, Bruce Dickinson, System of a Down, Johnny Marr, The Killers, The Streets, John Lydon, Muse, Foo Fighters, Stereophonics, Mick Ronson, Beastie Boys, Oasis, Prodigy and Shaun Ryder. The list is complemented by a passion for re-introducing classic titles, such as I Swear I Was There and Ian Hunter’s Diary of a Rock ’n’ Roll Star, as well as definitive subcultural histories on subjects such as scooter boys, skins, bikers and Two Tone. I.M.P. is totally independent and is Europe’s most successful alternative music publisher, with sales in 26 countries worldwide.

Launched by publisher Kaye Roach in January 1998, I.M.P. Fiction quickly established itself as one of the most innovative and cutting-edge publishing houses in the country.
